Best Face 90/50 The heartwood of Cherry is a deep pink to light brown color and the minimal sapwood is light cream colored. Northern Cherry is flat sawn and appears with both fine straight and wavy grain patterns, tan streaks, and naturally occurring gum spots and streaks. It is primarily used for fine furniture, cabinetry, flooring, and architectural millwork. Cherry is invitingly warm and is used as a premium wood throughout American homes. Northern Hickory, also known as true Hickory, is preferred to pecan hickory (fruit/nut bearing) from the South, due to a much higher percentage of the rich shades of brown and dramatic grain found in the heartwood. The cold winters and short growing seasons limit the white sapwood. Hickory provides a "calico" color appearance with each board containing both reddish-brown heartwood and white sapwood. It boasts a resilient surface because of its hardness and durability. Northern Hickory is flat sawn and appears with fine grain that can be straight, wavy, or irregular. Sapwood only and heartwood only products are also available upon request. Hickory, the heaviest and hardest American hardwood, is primarily used for flooring, hammer and axe handles, drum sticks, furniture, and cabinetry. Due to the long cold winters, rich soil, and short growing seasons, our Red Oak from Northern Wisconsin is prized for its consistent color and fine texture that is produced from old growth and slow growing timber. Features of Red Oak are: Light blond, wheat and pink heartwood colors; classic look, warm and traditional; northern Red Oak is flat sawn and appears with straight and cathedral open grain patterns; rift and quarter sawn are also available upon request.
